Linda Smith
As a mental health therapist, I have dedicated my career to helping individuals, couples, children, and families overcome mental health challenges and strengthen their relationships. With over 30 years of experience in the field, I have honed my skills in a variety of evidence-based therapies, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with a solutions approach.
My approach is collaborative and client-centered, meaning that I work closely with each person to tailor treatment to their unique needs and goals. I create a safe and supportive space where clients can explore difficult emotions, learn coping strategies, and develop new perspectives. My warm and empathetic style helps clients feel heard and understood, while I also challenge them to grow and make positive changes. I enjoy watching my clients progress and learn ways to help themselves, to feel better about themselves, and enjoy their lives.
In addition to my work with individuals and couples, I am passionate about supporting and helping others. I have an extensive experience in working with trauma, self-injurious behavior, severe recurring depression and anxiety, panic attacks, rumination, and phobias. I have been trained for many years in de-escalations and safety planning.
I also have strong experience with detox and severe substance abuse issues, teen self-esteem, and peer relationships issues. I’m empathic and compassionate for children and specializes in issues of divorce and how children of divorce are affected.
I’m comfortable working with clients from diverse backgrounds and with varying mental health needs. I worked for Butler Hospital for the last 25 years and have wide-ranging experience working with many types of personalities and mental health issues.
I love providing a calm, supportive, and non-judgmental environment to help clients to achieve personal growth throughout the counseling experience.
