We recognize the ongoing stress, anxiety, and trauma that so many in our community are facing.
To support and give care to those who are struggling with these difficulties and to prevent long-term trauma that occurs as a result of these experiences, we established the PTSD/EMDR Center.
Stress and anxiety can lead to disorders including Post Traumatic Distress Disorder. Some people can develop PTSD within days, months, or years after experiencing traumatic events.
The delayed effects of traumatic stress and their cumulative impact on psychological and physical health (including hypertension, obesity and cardiovascular problems, fibromyalgia, irritable bowel, chronic fatigue, and various pain syndromes) lead to a general disruption of an individual’s psychological and physical health.
EMDR therapy can be both a prevention and a treatment.
Trauma and PTSD is a difficult subject to address, and it can be even more difficult to deal with when it is experienced by a child.
Brightside Behavioral Health PTSD/EMDR Trauma Center specializes in helping Individual adults, teens and children who have experienced trauma.
They do this by providing therapy services in three different areas: individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy sessions that are all tailored to the needs of the child and their family.
EMDR is a type of psychotherapy that has been shown to be effective in treating trauma.
It involves bilateral stimulation, meaning that the therapist will move their fingers back and forth from one eye to the other in an effort to induce a trance-like state.
This process helps the brain process and reprocess traumatic memories, reducing the intensity of those memories over time.
Trauma is a deeply distressing experience that may result in unpredictable emotions, flashbacks, strained relationships, and even physical symptoms. It can happen to anyone and it is important that we address the issue.
Have you been through trauma, such as a car accident or robbery? If so, there are chances that it’s still affecting your life. You may be experiencing feelings like anxiety and nightmares, find it difficult to trust people, and have intense physical reactions when triggered.
The EMDR approach reduces past emotionally-charged experiences that are overly influencing your present emotions, sensations, and thoughts.
When applied by our qualified professionals, helps you break through the emotional blocks that are keeping you from living an adaptive and emotionally healthy life.
While in a comfortable and safe environment you will meet with your therapist to discuss how EMDR and other treatment approaches may benefit you.
