Hi, my name is Sofia and I am a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW) and hold a master’s degree in the field of social work (MSW)

I am an Outpatient Therapist in private practice at Brightside Behavioral Health, and I’ve been working in the social work field for over 15 years.

Being a therapist who’s been in the social work field for over 15 years, I have seen the behavioral health industry change during that time. In the past, there was a stigma around therapy and people were afraid to get help for their mental health issues.

The biggest change I see is that people are more open about their struggles, more willing to talk about mental health, and more willing to get help when they need it. It’s become more acceptable to seek out therapists who specialize in certain areas or techniques.

I’m interested in how our culture’s stories shape us, and I love helping people heal from their own personal stories.

I provide behavioral health counseling services, including grief counseling and trauma counseling. I also have experience working with clients who struggle with domestic abuse, self-esteem, and anger management and would benefit from learning coping skills and parenting skills.

I’m an EMDR certified therapist. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is the gold-standard treatment for trauma. It uses eye movements or other forms of rhythmic, simultaneous sensory input to help the client heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.

I am very passionate about self-improvement.

I love the feeling I get from reading motivational books, watching/listening to TED Talks, or trying new activities. Personal growth is an important part of my life. This can be seen in my everyday life where I embrace new challenges and set higher standards for what I want to achieve both personally and professionally.
